With a master&#8217;s degree in museology, she worked from 2009 to 2012 in Montreal and Nunavik for the Avataq Cultural Institute, an organization whose mandate is to protect and promote the language and culture of the Inuit. Since then, she acted as a consultant for museology projects, in addition to managing a family tourism business.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><br \/>&#8220;I attach great importance to cultural vitality as well as the sense of belonging and pride that can emanate from an indigenous museology; provided that it genuinely takes into account the knowledge and needs of community members, &#8220;says Julie Anne Tremblay.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><br \/>&#8220;We are very pleased to welcome Julie Anne Tremblay to the Mus\u00e9e des Ab\u00e9nakis team as general director. With her background in museology and in an Aboriginal context, we are convinced that she will allow the Museum to be more recognized for the quality of its exhibitions and the richness of its collections, \u201dsaid Suzie O&#8217;Bomsawin, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Odanak Historical Society.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Museum reopening<\/strong><br \/>Following the Quebec government\u2019s announcement to open museums, the Mus\u00e9e des Ab\u00e9nakis is pleased to announce its upcoming reopening.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Museum will open its doors on July 13. After rethinking its programming as well as access to its exhibitions and spaces, the Museum team is ready to deploy its reopening plan. This will be done so as to offer a safe, fun and enriching experience to visitors. They can visit the exhibitions W\u00f4banaki: people of the rising sun, Tolakonutome; she tells a story as well as Pemighassi 8jmow8gan; digging into history. Finally, visitors can complete their visit to the Museum by discovering the Tolba trail, which interprets the flora and fauna of the Abenaki community of Odanak.<br \/>We invite you to stay on the lookout for the next few weeks as there are some great new products to come.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Respecting the recommendations given by the Department of Public Health and the good practices developed by the museums industry, the Mus\u00e9e des Ab\u00e9nakis has implemented the following measures to ensure the safety of visitors and its employees:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>The cleaning of spaces and surfaces is done frequently. For this purpose, the Museum does not admit any new visitors between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to facilitate the disinfection of the Museum;<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>A limited number of visitors are admitted at the same time to the Museum as well as to exhibitions to ensure that the social distancing is respected. Visitors must also follow the pre-established direction of the visit;<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>All visitors need to disinfect their hands upon arrival at the Museum;<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Electronic payment methods are highly recommended;<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>The wearing of a mask by visitors is suggested;<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Protective barriers have been installed at the giftshop;<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>The employees of the Kiz8bak giftshop as well as the animators have received a training in order to properly understand the protective measures to better guide visitors on their journey.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>About the Mus\u00e9e des Ab\u00e9nakis<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Since 1965, the Mus\u00e9e des Ab\u00e9nakis has offered historical and contemporary testimony to Abenaki culture.
