Odanak, June 30, 2020 – The board of directors of the Odanak Historical Society announces that Ms. Julie Anne Tremblay is the new institution’s general manager.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
New management<\/strong> Museum reopening<\/strong> The Museum will open its doors on July 13. After rethinking its programming as well as access to its exhibitions and spaces, the Museum team is ready to deploy its reopening plan. This will be done so as to offer a safe, fun and enriching experience to visitors. They can visit the exhibitions W\u00f4banaki: people of the rising sun, Tolakonutome; she tells a story as well as Pemighassi 8jmow8gan; digging into history. Finally, visitors can complete their visit to the Museum by discovering the Tolba trail, which interprets the flora and fauna of the Abenaki community of Odanak. Respecting the recommendations given by the Department of Public Health and the good practices developed by the museums industry, the Mus\u00e9e des Ab\u00e9nakis has implemented the following measures to ensure the safety of visitors and its employees:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n About the Mus\u00e9e des Ab\u00e9nakis<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Since 1965, the Mus\u00e9e des Ab\u00e9nakis has offered historical and contemporary testimony to Abenaki culture. From the performing arts to museology, Julie Anne Tremblay has worked in the cultural sector for almost twenty years. With a master’s degree in museology, she worked from 2009 to 2012 in Montreal and Nunavik for the Avataq Cultural Institute, an organization whose mandate is to protect and promote the language and culture of the Inuit. Since then, she acted as a consultant for museology projects, in addition to managing a family tourism business.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
“I attach great importance to cultural vitality as well as the sense of belonging and pride that can emanate from an indigenous museology; provided that it genuinely takes into account the knowledge and needs of community members, “says Julie Anne Tremblay.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
